Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues.
Establish, prioritize, & execute a project portfolio that delivers process capabilities and improvement to meet plant strategy and business objectives.
Develop & deploy in-depth technical talent that solves problems by creating and institutionalizing advanced understanding in core technology areas.
Ensure adherence to plant operating systems and documented work practices.
Effectively meet or exceed department and plant financial goals.
Day to Day Responsibilities: Objectively assess product and process needs by partnering with operations teams to provide trend analysis.
Establish strategy & portfolio that brings engineering & innovation solutions to meet business needs.
Interpret business needs & incorporate them into project team goals.
Integrate Project details with Management needs to form a well-articulated & executable project direction.
Engage with project leaders & stakeholders to clarify and adjust direction.
Set expectations for the team to develop Fundamental Understanding & Deep Process Knowledge.
Coach & provide feedback on the approach.
Drive teams to apply & institutionalize these learning’s into Manufacturing & Engineering systems to ensure sustainability.
Engage with Development to maintain awareness of technology inventory in R&D and externally.
Be an advocate to pull in new technologies.
Ensure that processes are being used rigorously: Innovation, Process Excellence, Project Management, Safety/Environmental, etc.
Lead and/or provide support for projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new processes.
Secure, motivate, and integrate people into project teams (direct reports & matrix team members) on critical opportunities and problems.
Excel at managing formal people processes and informal people development.
Provide coaching for broad & deep personal development of engineering team.
Establish coaching relationships outside of immediate team for personal development.
Manage department and project budgets and forecasts.
Ensure the protection of Corning’s Intellectual Property (IP) Required Education & Experience: Bachelors of Engineering or equivalent technical degree (Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, or Ceramic disciplines preferred).
Masters of Engineering or equivalent desired.
6 + years in a manufacturing environment 2+ years in engineering supervision & leadership experience.
Required Skills: Successful technical leadership, with evidence of progressive increase in responsibilities and ability to hold individuals accountable.
Has excelled in one or more prior applicable roles: Manufacturing, Innovation, or Engineering leadership.
Ability to collaborate across organization to drive solutions.
Results oriented and high commitment.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Demonstrated ability to coach and develop people.
Demonstrated ability to use engineering fundamentals to solve production problems.
Desired Skills: Breadth of experiences in prior roles: manufacturing, innovation, engineering, nontechnical assignments.

00 - $162,839.
00 assuming full time status.
Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
